Al-Taj News – The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing U.S. officials, that President Donald Trump rejected an Iranian proposal for a seven-day ceasefire after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the proposal in a speech on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
U.S. officials told the newspaper that Trump informed his aides that he expects the bombing of Iran to resume after the midterm elections next November, amid the U.S. president’s skepticism during closed-door meetings about the possibility of Iran meeting his demands.
Last Sunday, Iran proposed during a meeting held in Qatar the idea of a seven-day truce in the fighting that could pave the way for ending Iranian attacks on maritime navigation in exchange for the United States lifting the blockade it has imposed, according to sources familiar with the matter who spoke to the newspaper.
